The stage runs almost entirely over the Sierra Grossa, which is part of the Baetic system, nearly 600 kms long, the largest system of mountain ranges in the Iberian Peninsula.
The main highlight of the day is the ascent up to the castle (not much left of the castle), but it has magnificent views of the valley below (Montesa valley). Towards the end of the stage, you cross over the River Canyoles and the endpoint is at a junction of a series of major railway and road infrastructure. The stage ends at the Venta de Boquella (A-35, exit 28). It is quite shocking after the quiet and uninhabited landscape we have just walked through. The walk is very peaceful and you go into a calm bliss. It is all very bucolic. Today, I walked through an orange grove for the first time after living in Valencia for many years.
